This post is a collection of all the blogs, photos and articles I’ve found about the BCSWomen Lovelace Colloquium 2014. If I’ve missed anything – leave a comment or drop me an email and I’ll add it.
Photos!
The photos from the day are now available on Flickr. Check them out, Silvia took some great pictures.
Students have been blogging about the day
- Michelle Brown from De Montfort wrote on her own blog but also had a guest post on Computer Weekly
- Charlotte Godley from Hull Uni (also a prizewinner) wrote a post on her own site and on Computer Weekly
- Polina Stoyanova from Greenwich uni also had a blog on computer weekly
Speakers at the event have been writing about their experiences and their talks
- Anne-Marie Imafidon our headline speaker, has written up her talk, on how to “lean in” when you’re not Sheryl Sandberg (and how to Make the industry lean in for you).
- Cate Huston from Google has written up her talk “Distractedly Intimate: your users on mobile” (and has also written a meta-post about returning to speaking after harassment – I had no idea this was her first talk after a hiatus, and judging from the student reaction, nor did the students. The talk was very well received)
- Rebecca Little of resourceIT put together a post about the day in general
Universities have been celebrating the successes of their students
It’s lovely to see the winning students celebrated by their home university. So here are some links to uni publicity about the day…
- Reading University, the host, had a winner Maitreyee Wairagkar in the MSc contest
- Dundee University celebrate their win Heather Ellis won the final year contest
- Aberystwyth University (my own uni:-) had 4 prizewinners this year – in people’s choice, first year, and second year contests. Our article on the day is here Aberystwyth finalists in the BCSWomen Lovelace Colloquium poster contest
- New: Ťhe University of Bath have a post about their two winners
And as you can probably guess, the organisers have been blogging too
- As well as my post from a few weeks ago…
- Conference helper and all-round excellent person Amanda Clare blogged about why we still need the colloquium
- Next year’s local organiser, Amy Guy had a guest post at the Software Sustainability Institute blog
And that’s all folks!
If you find any more Lovelace 2014 blog posts or other publicity stuff, do leave a comment or drop me an email.
